Bosch PS40-2A 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion Impact Driver Review

Ok maybe "ever" is an exaggeration. Would this have helped the Egyptians with the pyramids or the French peasants with their cathedrals? I suppose not but the closest I've come to building a cathedral is the enormous redwood jungle gym / fort / swing unit in our backyard and for that the Bosch was fantastic. That did involve sinking 3" wood screws into big pieces of wood but I'm not going to win any Big Screw contests with other reviewers here...mostly I use this for around the house and garage and light to medium building of things. And for that it's perfect. Here are some specific notes:

--Battery lasts forever and more importantly, keeps a charge when not in use. I can't remember the last time I charged the battery in mine. 6 months ago maybe? And it comes with TWO BATTERIES. Awesome.

--Buy long driver bits to get into narrow spaces, or a bit extension.

--Do the final tightening with a hand screwdriver to avoid stripping out the hole.

--The combination of this tool and self-tapping screws is fantastic as you don't have to carry a drill around with you. The Bosch will work in a pinch to drill a pilot hole but it's not ideal for that use. Half the time though I just end up sinking the screws without a pilot hole.

--The light that is supposed to illuminate the screw head gets everything but the screw head since the driver bit is in the way.

--It is noisy but a very satisfying kind of noise...the noise of Stuff Getting Done!

--The way the batteries load makes it perfect for pretending that you are TJ Hooker loading another magazine in your Colt .45.

If there were a sixth star to give, I would give it for this very useful, well-made tool.Get more detail about Bosch PS40-2A 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion Impact Driver.
