I compare this to the Festool drill and i'm very impressed with the driver and yet quite disappointed that Makita does not include a bit holder on their tools, That's just cheap and lame. I'm over it.
I bought this at the local hardware store annual sale on April 11th. I was floored to find i paid 280.49 + 9.5% tax on it, cheaper than amazon! While i had bought and reviewed the 10 V driver combo about 6 moths ago and was deluged with hate mail for expecting a company to make a decent box, i realized after talking with the reps at the show that the one Amazon sent me did not have the full foam inserts, anyway, a different story. The Makita reps seemed extremely non-pulsed that anyone would criticize their products. When i talked about it they steered me too this combo and i must say i'm quite satisfied.
The 18 volt Makita drills and drivers seem to be top notch and deliver excess power, torque and i love the LED lights, very useful. there are allot of small features that work with these tools, especially the light and I bought the 62 pc drill driver bit set. They work well together.
I've used both tools a bit around the house and doing some light remodeling and have no complaint. I'm still working on the factory charge and i'm definitely going to try to take it easy recharging the batteries as they do have a limited, if unknown, number of charge cycles.
I went on E-bay and found the cool flashlight florescent work light for $40 bucks and i like that as well. No point having 3 batteries and nothing to use them with.
I hope your be as satisfied with this tool combination as i am. While i'm still lusting over the Festool drill with 3 heads, i've no real use for them and this combo kicks but drilling and driving scarfs into old framing on my '60s house prior to installing crown.
I'll amend the review as i use it more for driving finish head screws through maple nosing (so far so good) i did pre-drill but that's the beauty of two tools and the Makita (or ryobi) drive bit sets.
4 stars due to lack of bit holder. Also the bit set does not hold the bits as well as it could and it' does not fit in the case with the charger and extra batteries.
